Version 2.0 • By Jozsef Huszar • Updated: October 8, 2026
This is the FinHavenArc Screener license for our free, open source stock screener. It combines the standard MIT License with additional notices that explain your responsibilities and the limits of the software.
This license has two parts. Part 1 is the standard MIT License, which gives you broad freedom to use, change, and share the Software. Part 2 contains additional notices that explain responsibilities and limits. They do not restrict the rights granted in Part 1.
Part 1: MIT License for the FinHavenArc Screener
Copyright © 2026 Jozsef Huszar
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the “Software”), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:
The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
Part 2: Additional Notices for the Open Source Stock Screener
These notices apply to everyone who downloads, installs, copies, modifies, or uses the Software. To the extent they conflict with the MIT License in Part 1, Part 1 prevails.
1. What the Software Is
“Software” means the FinHavenArc Screener, including the files RSI_search.py, scheduler.py, markets.py, watchlists.py, and check_watchlists.py, and its documentation. The file secrets.env is not part of the Software. You create it yourself, and it contains your own Telegram bot token. Your own chat ID is entered in RSI_search.py.
2. You Are Responsible for What You Run
The Software is open source, and you are free to change it, extend it, combine it with other code, and run it however you like. That freedom comes with responsibility. You alone are responsible for the Software as you install, configure, modify, and operate it, and for any consequences. This includes any change made by you or by anyone from whom you obtained a modified copy. As an extreme example, if you or anyone else adds a command such as format c: to the code and it erases your data, the Licensor is not responsible for that loss. The same applies to every bug, error, malfunction, or unexpected behavior of the Software, whether it existed in the original code or came from a change.
3. No Financial Advice
The Software is an information tool. It applies fixed mechanical rules to market data. Nothing that the Software produces, and nothing in its documentation, is investment, financial, legal, or tax advice, a recommendation, an offer, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security or other instrument. The Software does not know your circumstances, goals, or risk tolerance. The rules have not been proven by backtesting, and no outcome or profit is promised. Trading and investing involve a risk of loss, including the loss of all of the money invested. All decisions are yours alone, and you should verify prices, conditions, and alerts independently before you act.
4. Data and Alerts May Be Wrong
The Licensor gives no guarantee that market data is timely, complete, or accurate, or that any alert will be generated, correct, on time, free of duplicates, or delivered. Free data can arrive late, can be missing or wrong, and can become unavailable or blocked at any time. Servers, networks, schedulers, and third-party services can fail or change without notice, and the Software may stop working after such changes.
5. Third-Party Services and Libraries
The Software works together with third-party libraries (including yfinance, pandas, NumPy, requests, exchange_calendars, and tzdata) and retrieves market data from Yahoo Finance through the independent yfinance library. It sends messages through Telegram. These libraries and services are not part of the Software, each is governed by its own license or terms, and the Licensor is not affiliated with Yahoo, Telegram, any exchange, any broker, or the authors of those libraries. The MIT License covers only the Software’s own code. It grants no rights to any third-party data or service. You alone are responsible for using them in line with their terms and applicable law. The terms of Yahoo Finance generally allow the free use of its data for personal, non-commercial purposes only, so check them before using the Software for any other purpose. These services can change, limit, or end access at any time.
6. Credentials and Privacy
The Software contains no telemetry and sends no data to the Licensor. It runs on your own infrastructure and communicates only with Yahoo Finance and Telegram (and, when you install or update packages, with package servers). You are responsible for keeping your Telegram bot token, chat ID, API keys, and secrets.env private. Never publish or share them, and do not include them if you pass on a copy of the Software. For how we handle personal information on our Website, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Support and Updates
The Licensor offers free, best-effort support for questions free-stock-screener-and-financial-insights installing, setting up, and using the Software, with no service level, guaranteed response time, or obligation to continue. Custom work, such as changing the filtering logic, selecting instruments by other criteria, or installing and administering servers, is outside the free support and may be offered for a fee under a separate written agreement. The Licensor has no obligation to provide updates, fixes, new versions, or updated ticker lists. Any review or update that the documentation mentions is only a possibility, not a promise.
8. Name
The MIT License does not grant any right to use the name “FinHavenArc” as a trademark or brand. You may use the name to say truthfully where the Software came from, but please do not use it in a way that suggests the Licensor endorses or is affiliated with you, your product, or your modified version. If you distribute a modified version, please make clear that it is modified and is not the official FinHavenArc Screener.
9. Limits of the Disclaimers
The disclaimers and limitations in this license apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this license excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for intentional misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury, or any mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply to you in your country of residence. If any part of this license is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
10. Governing Law
This license is governed by the laws of Hungary, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, to the extent that the law allows. Any mandatory consumer-protection law and any mandatory right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence remain unaffected.
